Sunderland's Habib Diarra Out Until December Following Surgery
Sunderland midfielder Habib Diarra will be sidelined until December after undergoing surgery to address a groin injury.
The 21-year-old Senegal international sustained the injury during training ahead of the recent 1-1 draw against Aston Villa on Sunday.
Sunderland confirmed that Diarra successfully underwent surgery on Monday.
Diarra, who joined the Black Cats from Strasbourg in July for a reported club record fee of £30 million, has featured in all four of Sunderland's Premier League matches prior to the game against Villa. Additionally, he made two appearances for the Senegal national team in September.
Currently, Sunderland sits seventh in the Premier League standings, accumulating eight points from their first five matches after securing promotion by defeating Sheffield United in the Championship play-off final last season.
