Teenager Jeremy Monga Makes History Despite Preston's Late Victory
Teenager Jeremy Monga's record-breaking goal was overshadowed as Preston North End defeated Leicester City with a late strike.
At just 16 years and 37 days old, Monga became the youngest player to score in the Championship since its rebranding in the 2004-05 season. He also holds the distinction of being the youngest scorer across the top four tiers of English football since Jordan Ibe netted for Wycombe in League One at the age of 15 years and 325 days in October 2011.
Alfie Devine opened the scoring for the hosts in the seventh minute with a superb finish from a tight angle, beating Foxes goalkeeper Jakub Stolarczyk to the ball.
Monga, who came on as a substitute in the 67th minute, equalized with a low shot just ten minutes later. However, Milutin Osmajic secured the victory for Preston by calmly converting a cross from Thierry Small in the 85th minute.
