Tottenham Manager Thomas Frank Confident Despite Recent Struggles
Tottenham manager Thomas Frank expressed that he feels supported by the club despite their recent string of poor performances, emphasizing that his players are aligned with him and moving in the same direction.
Last weekend, Frank's team suffered a 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest, marking just one victory in their last seven Premier League matches. Currently, they sit 11th in the league standings with 22 points from 16 games, ahead of their upcoming match against defending champions Liverpool.
Before the Reds' visit to north London, Spurs centre-back Micky van de Ven stated in an interview that he was surprised the club did not dismiss Frank's predecessor, Ange Postecoglou, and expressed his continued faith in the Australian's system.
When asked if it was challenging for players to adapt to his system, Frank responded, "No, I think there has been a good buy-in. We started the season well, though not sensationally. I believe we performed very well in some matches and adequately in others. Every season has its setbacks, but I don’t see any indication that the players are not with me or moving in the same direction."
Frank has faced a challenging start at Tottenham since taking the helm in June, following a successful seven-year tenure at Brentford, where he led the team from the Championship to the Premier League in 2021. His performance has come under scrutiny following a home defeat to Fulham on November 29, part of a run that saw the team secure only one win in eight games, prompting frustration among some Spurs supporters. However, the manager remains confident in the backing he receives from the club's leadership.
"I feel supported. I’ve felt that throughout my time here," said the 52-year-old. "This is not a quick fix; it will take time. That said, we will do everything possible to beat Liverpool. I am comfortable and confident that I will, how can I put it, turn things around. But it’s important to recognize that it’s not solely about me. When this club succeeds, it will be due to many good people working together over time. I am quite skilled at analyzing situations, and I know what success looks like. I am 1,000% sure that no club has been successful without having key individuals in the right positions for an extended period. I am determined to be one of those key individuals in that position."
