Tuchel Highlights Rashford's Potential Ahead of World Cup Qualifier

England manager Thomas Tuchel has stated that there are "no limits" to Marcus Rashford's potential, but he cautioned the Barcelona forward against ending his career with regrets about missed opportunities.

Currently on a season-long loan at the Spanish champions from Manchester United, Rashford has made a notable impact, scoring three goals and providing five assists in ten appearances.

The 27-year-old forward previously impressed during a loan spell at Aston Villa and was recalled to Tuchel's squad seven months ago, despite not featuring for England since March 2024.

During a news conference on Monday, Tuchel remarked, "It's not a question of talent; it's a matter of whether he can demonstrate his abilities at both club and international levels."

England is set to face Latvia in Riga on Tuesday, with a win ensuring their qualification for next summer's World Cup in Mexico, Canada, and the United States.

Rashford, who scored twice in the Champions League for Barcelona against Newcastle United, has struggled for form at Manchester United and is eager to revitalize his career away from his boyhood club.

In January, manager Ruben Amorim criticized Rashford for not displaying the commitment expected from a player "giving their all every day."

Tuchel emphasized that Rashford is still young enough to make pivotal decisions in his career, warning that otherwise, he may find himself regretting what could have been in ten years' time.

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has expressed satisfaction with Rashford's performances thus far, describing him as "unbelievable." The La Liga club holds the option to sign him permanently for £30 million in 2026.

Tuchel added, "I believe his potential is exceptionally high, possibly higher than that of others. However, potential can be a precarious term in high-level sports. You must consistently reach your personal best, which is the challenge he faces.

"He has the capability to be one of the best in the world, given the quality I observe in training—his finishing ability with both feet and his head. He is explosive, fast, and strong in the air. So, where are the limits? There are none—yet the numbers must reflect the potential; it is as simple as that."
