World Cup Qualifier: Kazakhstan vs. Wales

Wales captain Aaron Ramsey has been omitted from the squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifier against Kazakhstan on 4 September. The 34-year-old midfielder recently made his debut for new club Pumas UNAM after recovering from a hamstring injury sustained during Cardiff City's 2-1 victory over Luton on 11 March.
Leeds United's Ethan Ampadu will also miss the match due to a knee injury incurred during their 1-0 Premier League win against Everton in mid-August. Despite an impressive start to the season with Cardiff, Rubin Colwill has not received a call-up.
However, Cardiff teammates Dylan Lawlor and Ronan Kpakio have been selected, alongside Coventry City midfielder Kai Andrews, who is one of three uncapped players in Craig Bellamy's 25-man squad.
Following the match against Kazakhstan in Astana, Wales will host Canada in a friendly five days later.
In a notable development, Wrexham will contribute players to the national team for the first time in over a decade, with new signings Danny Ward, Nathan Broadhead, and Kieffer Moore all included in the squad.
Wales currently sits second in Group J, with their only defeat in this qualifying campaign being a 4-3 loss to Belgium in June. They trail North Macedonia by one point, who recently secured a 1-0 victory over Kazakhstan, while Belgium is in third place, three points behind but with two games in hand.
The friendly match against Canada on 9 September (19:45 BST) marks a return to Swansea.com Stadium for Wales, who last played there in November 2020, drawing 0-0 with the USA during the Covid-19 pandemic. The last match Wales played in front of a crowd at Swansea was in March 2013 against Croatia, with head coach Bellamy participating as a player.
