Wolves Secure £24m Deal for Genk Striker Tolu Arokodare
Wolverhampton Wanderers have finalized a £24 million agreement to acquire Genk striker Tolu Arokodare.
The 24-year-old forward had an impressive season, netting 21 goals, making him one of the top scorers in the Jupiler Pro League as Genk finished third.
Arokodare is expected to bolster the attacking options alongside Jorgen Strand Larsen, as Wolves aim to retain the Norway international, having turned down two substantial offers of £50 million and £55 million from Newcastle United.
Manager Vitor Pereira has consistently expressed the need for an additional forward to support Strand Larsen, and Arokodare is not intended to be a replacement.
The Nigerian international has recorded 41 goals in 113 appearances for Genk since joining from Latvian club Valmiera in 2023.
Additionally, former Burnley captain Josh Brownhill is being considered by Pereira, as the midfielder is available on a free transfer after departing Burnley this summer.
Brownhill contributed significantly with 18 goals last season, aiding Burnley’s promotion back to the Premier League.
Currently, Wolves sit at the bottom of the Premier League table without any points, following a 3-2 defeat at home to Everton, marking their third consecutive loss.
