Wrexham Close to Signing Nathan Broadhead from Ipswich Town
Wrexham is nearing a deal to sign Wales international Nathan Broadhead from Ipswich Town, a transfer that could ultimately be valued at £10 million.
Although the initial fee is expected to fall short of this figure, Broadhead's transfer will break Wrexham's existing record.
The 27-year-old forward is entering the final year of his contract at Portman Road.
Since the acquisition of the club by Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney in 2021, Wrexham has frequently set new transfer records.
The current record is believed to exceed £3 million, a sum paid to secure midfielder Lewis O'Brien from Nottingham Forest last month.
Broadhead, a former Everton youth player, will become Wrexham's ninth signing since their promotion from League One last season.
He follows in the footsteps of fellow Wales internationals Danny Ward and Kieffer Moore in joining the club at the Stadiwm Cae Ras.
This summer, Wrexham has also welcomed forwards Josh Windass and Ryan Hardie, defenders Conor Coady and Liberato Cacace, as well as midfielders George Thomason and O'Brien.
Born in Bangor, Broadhead began his professional career at Everton but made a permanent move to Ipswich in 2023 after several loan spells at Burton Albion, Sunderland, and Wigan Athletic.
He made two appearances for Everton's first team but quickly became a key player at Ipswich, aiding the team in achieving back-to-back promotions from League One to the Premier League.
Last season, he scored two goals in 18 top-flight matches under manager Kieran McKenna.
Broadhead has also netted twice in 14 appearances for the Welsh national team, with his first goal coming during his debut against Croatia in 2023.
Wrexham is also reportedly interested in signing Liverpool's Wales international Lewis Koumas and Ajax's central midfielder Sivert Mannsverk, who spent the latter part of last season on loan at Cardiff City.
