Wrexham is in discussions to acquire Wales striker Nathan Broadhead from Ipswich Town for a club-record fee.
The 27-year-old from Bangor scored twice in 18 Premier League matches last season, as Ipswich faced relegation back to the Championship.
Broadhead, who has netted two goals in 14 appearances for the Welsh national team, has one year remaining on his contract with Ipswich, known as the Tractor Boys.
This transfer would surpass Wrexham's previous highest transfer fee, reportedly set earlier this summer with the acquisition of Lewis O'Brien from Nottingham Forest.
Broadhead began his career at Everton, making a single Premier League appearance amid loan spells at Burton Albion, Sunderland, and Wigan.
The Welsh striker found stability at Ipswich in 2022, scoring eight goals that helped the Suffolk team secure promotion to the Championship.
He was instrumental in their return to the Premier League the following season, contributing 13 goals.
On the international stage, Broadhead made a significant impact by scoring a dramatic last-minute equalizer on his debut against Croatia.
He also found the net at what could soon be his new home, the Stok Racecourse, during a friendly match for Wales against Gibraltar.
If the transfer proceeds, Broadhead would become Wrexham's seventh signing of the summer, joining Danny Ward, Ryan Hardie, Liberato Cacace, George Tomason, Josh Windass, and O'Brien in moving to north Wales.
Having achieved the remarkable feat of three consecutive promotions, Wrexham is set to commence their Championship campaign away at Southampton on August 9.
