Wrexham Signs Kieffer Moore on a Three-Year Deal
Wrexham has signed Wales striker Kieffer Moore to a three-year contract from Championship rivals Sheffield United.
While the transfer fee for the 32-year-old remains undisclosed, reports indicate that the deal is valued at approximately £2 million.
"I am over the moon to join the club and I can't wait to get started," Moore expressed. "I want to be an experienced leader and contribute significantly to the team. My work ethic is one of my strongest assets, and I aim to help drive the team forward."
Moore is the eighth signing for Wrexham this summer as the club prepares for its first season in the second tier since 1982.
Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson commented on the acquisition, stating, "We are delighted to welcome Kieffer to the club. He brings a wealth of Championship and international experience, and we look forward to working with him."
Moore, a former player for Bournemouth, Ipswich Town, and Cardiff City, now adds depth to Wrexham's attacking lineup, which has seen fan favorite Paul Mullin loaned to Wigan Athletic and Jake Bickerstaff transferred to Cheltenham Town for the upcoming season.
Wrexham, owned by Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, is also in discussions to sign Wales striker Nathan Broadhead from Ipswich Town for a potential club record fee of around £7.5 million.
During the close season, Wrexham has made several other key signings, including goalkeeper Danny Ward, forward Ryan Hardie, defender Liberato Cacace, midfielders George Thomason and Lewis O'Brien, as well as forward Josh Windass.
Parkinson mentioned that the club has also explored the possibility of signing Denmark midfielder Christian Eriksen, although discussions have not progressed further.
A Long and Winding Career
Kieffer Moore, born in Torquay, began his career in his hometown club's youth system before playing non-league football with Paignton Saints, Truro City, and Dorchester Town. He signed with Championship side Yeovil Town in 2013, making over 50 appearances before being released in his second season.
After a brief stint with Norwegian club Viking, he returned to the Conference with Forest Green Rovers. In 2017, Moore was given another opportunity in the EFL by Ipswich Town, where he garnered attention with 13 goals in 22 loan appearances for Rotherham United before moving to Barnsley and then Wigan Athletic in the Championship.
In 2020, Moore signed a three-year deal with Cardiff City in a transfer believed to be worth £2 million, netting 25 goals in 65 matches for the Welsh club before a £5 million move to Bournemouth in January 2022. Despite injury setbacks at the Vitality Stadium, he scored the goal that secured promotion for Bournemouth and found the net five times in the Premier League before returning on loan to Ipswich, helping them gain promotion to the top flight.
Moore joined Sheffield United on a three-year contract in July 2024, where he scored five goals in 28 Championship appearances last season. An England C international, Moore made his Wales debut against Belarus in 2019, with his most recent appearance in June’s World Cup qualifying victory over Liechtenstein, where he scored the final goal in a 3-0 win at Cardiff City Stadium.
Wrexham, having achieved three successive promotions from the National League to the Championship since their Hollywood takeover, will begin their first second-tier campaign in 44 years at Southampton's St Mary’s Stadium on Saturday, August 9 (12:30 BST).
