Yoane Wissa Returns to Training Amid Transfer Talks
Brentford forward Yoane Wissa has resumed first-team training following productive discussions with head coach Keith Andrews, although he is still pursuing a transfer away from the club.
Wissa and Andrews met at the team's training facility on Wednesday morning, marking a turning point after two weeks of tension between the player and the club.
This dialogue has allowed Wissa to return to senior training for the first time since he departed Brentford's pre-season camp in Portugal on July 21.
Despite his return, the 28-year-old remains intent on securing a transfer to Newcastle during the current transfer window, which would offer him the chance to compete in Champions League football.
Sources informed BBC Sport that Brentford is open to selling Wissa but values the forward significantly higher than the £25 million plus £5 million offer they have received from Newcastle.
The club's search for a suitable replacement for Wissa is also a key consideration in any potential transfer ahead of the deadline on September 1.
In addition to his return to training, Wissa participated in Brentford's Premier League media day on Tuesday, where the squad was filmed and photographed for external broadcasters in preparation for the new season.
Having missed Saturday's 1-0 friendly victory over Queens Park Rangers, it remains uncertain whether Wissa will be included in the squad for the upcoming match against Borussia Monchengladbach on Friday.
Since returning early from the club's training camp in Portugal, Wissa has been at odds with Brentford. The former Lorient player had previously threatened to abstain from playing or training, clearly expressing his desire to move to St James' Park.
