Yoane Wissa Severs Ties with Brentford Amid Transfer Speculation
Yoane Wissa has severed all ties with Brentford on his Instagram account as uncertainty surrounds his future.
The DR Congo forward was omitted from the squad for Sunday's 3-1 defeat against Nottingham Forest and is eager to join Newcastle United.
Newcastle has had at least one offer for Wissa turned down by Brentford this summer.
BBC Sport first reported that Wissa returned home early from the team's pre-season camp in Portugal, subsequently threatening to abstain from playing or training for the club unless his long-awaited transfer to St James' Park was approved.
Since then, there has been a slight improvement in relations, allowing the 28-year-old to return to first-team training while still expressing his desire to move to Newcastle.
At that time, Wissa believed Brentford would grant his transfer to the North East once they secured a replacement.
Wissa anticipated that his move to Tyneside would be finalized this week after Brentford completed the signing of Dango Ouattara from Bournemouth.
However, sources indicate that Brentford is still reluctant to let Wissa go, now reportedly valuing him above their initial asking price of £40 million.
Recent reports suggest that Brentford now values Wissa, who did not participate in the club's pre-season, at approximately £60 million.
This ongoing dispute has intensified, with Wissa removing all images of himself playing or training for Brentford from his official Instagram account.
Tottenham Hotspur has also shown interest, but as it stands, Newcastle's pursuit is more advanced. It remains to be seen if Brentford will approve his sale before the transfer deadline.
Wissa has scored 49 goals in 149 appearances for Brentford.
