In contrast, Larnaca began their campaign with impressive victories over AZ Alkmaar and FA Cup holders Crystal Palace.
Despite these differing trajectories, Aberdeen showcased a strong defensive performance, effectively keeping Larnaca at bay while relying on counter-attacks.
The hosts nearly broke the deadlock in the first half when centre-back Hrvoje Milicevic struck the base of the post with a powerful long-range shot.
Aberdeen also had their opportunities, with Jack Milne misfiring a shot wide and heading another chance over the bar, while Jesper Karlsson saw a deflected effort go off target.
