Arsenal's Kai Havertz to Undergo Knee Surgery
Arsenal forward Kai Havertz is set to undergo surgery for a knee injury, although he is not expected to be sidelined for an extended period.
The 26-year-old player came off the bench during Arsenal's opening win against Manchester United but was absent from the 5-0 victory over Leeds due to this injury.
Before the match against Leeds, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta noted that they needed "more time" to assess the appropriate course of action regarding Havertz's injury.
It is hoped that the Germany international will be out for weeks rather than months, which will provide some relief for Arteta. The manager is currently managing a squad that also includes notable absences such as winger Bukayo Saka, midfielders Martin Ødegaard and Christian Nørgaard, defender Ben White, and forward Gabriel Jesus, all due to injuries.
Currently, the only fit striker available to the club is Sweden international Viktor Gyökeres, who scored his first two Premier League goals in the match against Leeds.
Havertz's injury prompted Arsenal to expedite their pursuit of England attacker Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace. The £60 million signing has already begun training with the Gunners.
This Sunday, Arsenal will face reigning champions Liverpool at Anfield, with both teams having won their opening two matches of the season.
