Arsenal's Viktor Gyokeres to Undergo Tests for Potential Hamstring Injury
Arsenal striker Viktor Gyokeres will undergo further tests this week amid concerns that he may have sustained a hamstring injury.
The Swedish international was substituted at halftime during Arsenal's victory over Burnley on Saturday after scoring the team's opening goal.
Prior to the Champions League match against Slavia Prague on Tuesday evening, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta expressed his concerns: "I am worried because he hasn’t had many muscular issues, and he felt something that required him to leave the pitch. This is never a good sign, especially for a player who is very explosive."
Arteta added, "We are investigating further to understand the extent of the injury, and we will provide updates as soon as we have more information."
There is optimism that Gyokeres' early withdrawal at Turf Moor may have averted further complications, with initial assessments suggesting that the 27-year-old could be sidelined for at least two weeks.
Following the match against Slavia Prague, Arsenal will face Sunderland on Saturday before most of the squad departs for the international break.
Arsenal's first match back after the international fixtures will be the North London derby against Tottenham on November 23.
Meanwhile, Sweden head coach Graham Potter is expected to announce his squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Switzerland and Slovenia, raising questions about Gyokeres' potential inclusion.
