Bayer Leverkusen Signs Claudio Echeverri on Loan from Manchester City
Bayer Leverkusen, a Bundesliga club, has secured a season-long loan deal for midfielder Claudio Echeverri from Manchester City.
The 19-year-old Argentine made three appearances for City last season, including his debut as a substitute in the FA Cup final, where the team was defeated by Crystal Palace.
Echeverri netted his first goal for City during a 6-0 victory against UAE side Al-Ain at the Club World Cup in June.
Manchester City signed Echeverri from River Plate for £12.5 million in January 2024; however, he will now continue his development in Germany under the guidance of former Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag.
Further City Departures Before Deadline Day?
Last week, City manager Pep Guardiola emphasized the necessity of maintaining a smaller squad, stating that leaving players out is "not healthy" and that he "cannot create a good atmosphere to compete."
Tottenham has engaged in discussions to acquire winger Savinho; however, sources indicate that City is reluctant to sell the Brazilian unless a substantial offer is made.
Goalkeeper Ederson has been linked with a transfer to Galatasaray and missed the opening match victory over Wolverhampton due to illness.
It is reported that the Turkish champions have also expressed interest in signing defender Manuel Akanji. Nevertheless, any sale would hinge on receiving a suitable offer and the player's willingness to leave the Etihad Stadium.
Meanwhile, Championship side Wrexham has reached an agreement to sign City defender Callum Doyle for a fee that could reach £8 million.
The transfer window is set to close on Monday, September 1, at 19:00 BST.
