Bournemouth Secures Deal for Liverpool Winger Ben Doak
Bournemouth has reached an agreement with Liverpool for winger Ben Doak, with an initial fee of £20 million and an additional £5 million in potential add-ons.
The 19-year-old is anticipated to finalize his transfer to the south coast within the next 24 hours, pending the completion of paperwork and a medical examination.
Doak was not included in Liverpool's 4-2 victory over Bournemouth at Anfield on Friday night, as negotiations between the two Premier League clubs progressed.
Bournemouth has successfully secured the forward, who has represented Scotland six times and spent the previous season on loan at Middlesbrough, where he scored three goals and provided seven assists in 24 appearances.
The club is believed to have outmaneuvered interest from other Premier League teams, including Leeds, as well as Portuguese club Porto.
This transfer presents Doak with a greater opportunity for first-team football, having made only 10 appearances for Liverpool since joining from Celtic in 2022.
Bournemouth has had a busy summer, recently selling Dango Ouattara to Brentford for £42.5 million last week.
The club has also seen defenders Illia Zabarnyi, Dean Huijsen, and Milos Kerkez depart for a total of approximately £150 million to Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid, and Liverpool, respectively.
Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola expressed that the team is "not where they want to be" following the defeat at Anfield and indicated that "important movements" will occur before the transfer window closes on September 1.
This summer, the club has welcomed goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic, left-back Adrien Truffert, and center-back Bafode Diakite, along with January signing Eli Junior Kroupi, who has returned to the squad after finishing last season on loan at Lorient.
Sources indicate that the Cherries are actively seeking another central defender and a striker to provide competition for Evanilson, particularly as alternative option Enes Unal is expected to be sidelined with a significant knee injury until November or December.
