Bradford Secures Victory Over Plymouth with Sarcevic's Penalty
Antoni Sarcevic's penalty secured a victory for Bradford against his former club Plymouth, elevating them to second place in League One.
The former Argyle midfielder converted a penalty in the 57th minute after referee Thomas Parsons ruled that returning defender Julio Pleguezuelo had pushed Stephen Humphrys.
Plymouth striker Owen Oseni forced Bradford goalkeeper Sam Walker into an early diving save, as the Greens began the match with strong attacking intent.
Bradford captain Aden Baldwin had a header from a Max Power free-kick saved by Conor Hazard in the 19th minute, following a clever flick-on from Sarcevic.
Sarcevic later had a shot blocked by defender Alex Mitchell, preventing his 27th-minute effort from troubling the goalkeeper.
Oseni, who stepped in for the suspended top scorer Lorent Tolaj, narrowly missed the target with a shot from the edge of the box in the 35th minute.
Plymouth's best opportunity came early in the second half when Owen Dale received a brilliant defense-splitting pass from Malachi Boateng but shot just wide from 20 yards.
Sarcevic's penalty ultimately decided the match in favor of Bradford.
