Bristol City Appoints Richard Scudamore to Board of Directors
Bristol City has appointed former Premier League chief executive Richard Scudamore to its board of directors.
Scudamore, who served as executive chairman during his nearly two-decade tenure at the league from 1999 to 2018, is a lifelong Bristol City supporter. He aims to contribute to the club's ambition of reaching the Premier League, starting from his new role on November 1.
"I am honored to be asked by the Lansdown family to support the club I have passionately followed throughout my life," Scudamore stated on the club's website.
He expressed enthusiasm for collaborating with chairman Jon Lansdown and chief executive Tom Rawcliffe to provide the necessary support and resources for head coach Gerhard Struber to achieve Premier League football for Bristol.
"While it is long overdue, the size and passion of our fanbase, along with the stability and excellent facilities that the Lansdown family has established, do not guarantee success. However, we will do everything possible to make it happen," he assured.
Under Scudamore’s leadership, the Premier League experienced substantial global and financial growth, with UK television rights soaring from £670 million to £5.14 billion.
Bristol City owner Steve Lansdown expressed confidence in Scudamore's ability to advance the club's goals. "I have known him for as long as I have been involved with the club, and I am sure that his extensive experience will assist Jon and Tom in moving the club forward," Lansdown remarked.
