Burnley Captain Josh Cullen Faces Extended Recovery from Knee Injury

Burnley captain Josh Cullen is expected to face a "prolonged period on the sidelines" following an injury to the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.

The Republic of Ireland midfielder sustained the injury early in the second half of Saturday's 0-0 draw against Everton, leading to his substitution for Florentino Luis.

After undergoing scans on Monday, the 29-year-old's injury was confirmed, and he is scheduled to have surgery.

In a statement, Burnley Football Club expressed their support, saying, "Everyone at Burnley Football Club wishes Josh all the best for a successful and speedy recovery."

Cullen had started all 18 games of the season prior to missing Burnley's 3-1 defeat at Newcastle on Tuesday.

Scott Parker's team currently sits 19th in the Premier League, six points adrift of safety, having suffered eight defeats in their last ten matches.

The club has not secured a victory since their 3-2 win over bottom-placed Wolves on October 26.
