Celtic AGM Adjourned Amid Shareholder Protests
Chairman Peter Lawwell adjourned Celtic's annual general meeting within five minutes due to chants of "sack the board" from some shareholders.
As directors entered the Kerrydale Suite at Celtic Park, they were met with boos and dozens of enlarged red cards held aloft by the crowd.
Chants of "out, out, out" echoed through the hall before interim manager Martin O'Neill received cheers upon his introduction by Lawwell.
As a season review video began playing on large screens, Jeanette Findlay, vice-chair of Celtic Trust, approached the top table to request that the meeting move directly to questions.
In response to the ongoing shouts and chants of "sack the board," Lawwell stated, "This disruptive behaviour is unacceptable. It must stop. We need to show respect for everyone else in the room."
Amid further shouts of "you respect us," Lawwell announced a 30-minute adjournment, and the meeting resumed shortly after 11:00 GMT.
The board has faced significant criticism from supporter groups regarding the club's summer transfer activities and its failure to qualify for the Champions League group stage.
Notably, principal shareholder Dermot Desmond was absent from the meeting, which was also accessible to other fans via video link from a separate function suite.
