Crystal Palace Achieves Unbeaten Streak with European Victory
Just a year ago, Crystal Palace found themselves in 18th place in the Premier League, struggling to secure a victory.
Now, the FA Cup winners from last season are enjoying their longest unbeaten streak in the club's 120-year history, following a historic first away win in Europe against Dynamo Kyiv in the Conference League.
With three wins and three draws, Oliver Glasner's impressive Eagles currently sit third in the Premier League, boasting the only unbeaten record after halting leaders Liverpool's strong start.
Palace's last defeat occurred on April 16, when they suffered a heavy 5-0 loss to Newcastle. Since then, they have not looked back, as demonstrated by Dynamo Kyiv's tactical approach aimed at neutralizing Palace's threats during their recent match.
However, those efforts proved ineffective.
Glasner's team secured a victory over Liverpool on Saturday, matching the club's previous 18-match unbeaten streak achieved between February and August 1969 under manager Bert Head.
They surpassed that record with a strong performance in their inaugural appearance at the group stage of a major European competition, despite Borna Sosa receiving a red card following goals from Daniel Munoz and Eddie Nketiah.
"They are so hungry to succeed and so ambitious, and of course we want to keep them pushing. It is really easy to maintain high focus," Glasner remarked.
"We have huge respect for Dynamo Kyiv, so starting with a win and three points in the Conference League is very positive. Every competition is equally important, and we aim to continue performing at our best in each game."
Palace's remarkable form is even more impressive considering the quality of their opponents. Their unbeaten run includes two victories and a draw against Liverpool, an FA Cup final win over Manchester City, and draws against both Arsenal and Chelsea.
Former England midfielder Owen Hargreaves, speaking on TNT Sports, echoed the sentiment that Palace, joint favorites to win the Conference League, are experiencing a golden era.
"Nineteen games unbeaten is truly remarkable. Credit to them for achieving their first away win in Europe," he stated. "This team is on the rise. They are going places."
Only Liverpool, Arsenal, and Manchester City have earned more Premier League points than Palace in 2025. The Eagles' defense has also conceded just three goals in their first six league matches this season, with four of those matches against teams that finished in the top seven in 2024-25.
This marks a significant turnaround for a team that lost five of their first eight top-flight games last season and did not secure their first league win until October 27.
Their record also stands favorably against teams across Europe. In terms of unbeaten streaks, only Bayern Munich, with nine games, comes close among Europe's top five leagues.
"I’m proud that we could start the Conference League away against a very good opponent," Glasner added. "I don’t dwell on this unbeaten run, as it has already happened. What matters now is what comes next."
