Cyriel Dessers Likely to Depart Rangers, According to Coach Russell Martin
Striker Cyriel Dessers has likely played his final match for Rangers, according to head coach Russell Martin.
The 30-year-old Nigerian international has made a significant impact at the Ibrox club, scoring 52 goals in 116 appearances. He came off the bench during the recent goalless draw against Celtic.
While Martin did not disclose Dessers' next destination, he has been rumored to be considering a move to Greece.
“Cyriel has probably played his last game for us,” Martin told BBC Scotland following the Old Firm stalemate at Ibrox. “We’ve agreed something with another club. We’ll see how that goes in the next 24 hours.”
In recent transfer activity, fellow striker Hamza Igamane left Rangers for Lille last week, and former Aberdeen forward Bojan Miovski, who started in Sunday’s match, has joined the team from Girona.
Regarding potential new signings before Monday night’s transfer deadline, Martin expressed optimism, stating, “We hope to definitely have a couple in, and we’ll see what happens after that depending on who goes here.”
Everton striker Youssef Chermiti is reportedly a target for Rangers. When asked about the club's interest in the 21-year-old, Martin commented, “He’s a player we like. I’m sure you’ll find out very soon.”
