Edson Alvarez Joins Fenerbahce on Loan from West Ham United
West Ham United midfielder Edson Alvarez has joined Turkish club Fenerbahce on loan, with an option for a permanent transfer next summer.
The 27-year-old Mexico international signed with West Ham in 2023 for a fee of £35 million from Dutch club Ajax.
During his time with the Hammers, he has made 73 appearances, scoring two goals and providing three assists.
Alvarez was an unused substitute in West Ham's opening Premier League defeat against Sunderland and was not included in the squad for the recent 5-1 loss at home to Chelsea.
Despite his club's struggles, he captained the Mexican national team, scoring the decisive goal in the Concacaf Gold Cup final against the United States this summer.
Fenerbahce, competing in the Super Lig, is managed by Jose Mourinho and has recently signed full-back Nelson Semedo from Wolverhampton Wanderers, along with former Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran, who has joined on loan from Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr.
