In what was anticipated as a showdown between two teenage prodigies, it was Estevao Willian who emerged as the standout star, overshadowing his counterpart Lamine Yamal.

After receiving a pass from Reece James, Estevao skillfully maneuvered past Alejandro Balde and unleashed a powerful shot into the top corner, leaving goalkeeper Joan Garcia with no chance.

Although comparisons are inevitable, Yamal remains ahead in several attacking statistics. Chelsea recognized Estevao's exceptional talent when they signed him for £29 million, potentially rising to £51 million, from Palmeiras this summer. Nevin commented, "It’s not a matter of if, but when and how good he will become." However, Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca cautioned against placing undue pressure on the young players by comparing them to legends like Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. "They are very young, and such comparisons add too much pressure. They should focus on enjoying football," he stated after the match.
Maresca further emphasized the importance of allowing Estevao to develop at his own pace, noting, "It’s about the game plan and utilizing the right players for each match. Today, in what was likely the most challenging game of the season, we chose to play Estevao. I’m not one to deny players minutes on the pitch."
'Yamal looked great... and then he disappeared'
While Estevao dazzled on one end, Yamal struggled against Chelsea's formidable left-back, Marc Cucurella, who ultimately contained him effectively. Nevin observed, "Certain full-backs thrive on tackling and one-on-one duels. Cucurella excels in such situations. Initially, Yamal seemed to have the upper hand, but Cucurella soon had him under control."
