Hamilton Academical Players Consider Boycott Over Salary Delays
Players of Hamilton Academical are contemplating a refusal to participate in Saturday's Scottish League 1 match against East Fife if their salaries are not disbursed on time.
The struggling club has notified the Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL) that it is unlikely to meet its players' monthly salary obligations before the new year.
A spokesperson for PFA Scotland informed BBC Scotland, "We are aware of the situation at Hamilton and have advised the players of their rights."
Hamilton Academical faced relegation last season following a 15-point penalty due to several violations, including failure to pay players, disputes over stadium ownership, and issues with player registration.
This summer, the club relocated from their hometown ground to Broadwood Stadium, located 15 miles away in Cumbernauld. Subsequently, they received a six-point penalty in October for compensating trialists and fielding amateur players while under a transfer embargo.
A further nine-point deduction was imposed on December 16 after the club failed to meet the SPFL's requirement for all teams to successfully obtain a bronze-level Scottish FA club license by March 31.
Currently, Hamilton Academical sits eighth in Scotland's third division, but they would be in second place without the penalties.
