Jahmai Simpson-Pusey Joins Celtic on Loan from Manchester City
Jahmai Simpson-Pusey is eager to showcase his talent after joining Celtic on a season-long loan from Manchester City.
The 19-year-old defender attracted interest from several clubs this summer, but he has chosen to begin his first loan experience in Glasgow.
Simpson-Pusey, an England Under-18 international, captained Manchester City to victory in the 2024 FA Youth Cup final and was included in the first team by manager Pep Guardiola last season due to injuries within the senior squad.
He made six appearances for the senior team last season, starting matches in both the Premier League and the Champions League.
However, he did not participate at the first-team level after January and concluded the season by leading City to a Premier League 2 play-off final victory over Southampton.
"Celtic is such a big club, and I’m thrilled to be here, play in front of the fans, and represent the team," Simpson-Pusey remarked. "This is a significant opportunity for me. I want to demonstrate my talent and capabilities. I hope to help the team win the league again and perform well in Europe."
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has emphasized the importance of strengthening his squad for the upcoming season, and he believes Simpson-Pusey is poised to make a positive impact for the Scottish Premiership champions.
