Manchester United's Lenny Yoro Participates in Lille's Ceremonial Kick-off
Manchester United defender Lenny Yoro was seen participating in a ceremonial kick-off for Lille's Ligue 1 match against Paris St-Germain on Sunday.
The 19-year-old, who played in defense for the Red Devils during their 2-0 victory over Sunderland on Saturday, donned a Lille shirt and jeans as he took to the pitch at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy just a day later.
In the French top-flight, it is customary for clubs to hold a ceremonial kick-off before matches, akin to the first pitch in baseball.
The game officially commenced when former Arsenal and France striker Olivier Giroud initiated the match, which ended in a 1-1 draw for Lille.
In September, former Senegal international Mamadou Niang performed a similar ceremonial kick-off for a match between two of his former teams, Strasbourg and Marseille.
In 2018, a young Marseille fan gained viral fame after kicking off a match, evading Rennes defenders, and scoring before celebrating with the home crowd.
Yoro began his career at Lille, making 46 league appearances before transferring to Manchester United in a £52 million deal in July 2024.
Sunday's event allowed Yoro to reconnect with his former club before joining the France under-21 squad for international duty.
In a social media post, Lille expressed their pleasure, stating: "It is great to have you with us tonight, Leny."
