Milan Mandaric, Former Football Club Owner, Passes Away at 87
Milan Mandaric, the former owner of Portsmouth, Leicester City, and Sheffield Wednesday, has passed away at the age of 87.
Mandaric's family released a statement confirming that he died in a hospital in Belgrade, Serbia, on Saturday after a brief illness.
The Serbian-American entrepreneur made his first foray into English football in 1999 when he acquired Portsmouth. Most recently, he served as the vice-president of Vojvodina, a Serbian football club based in Novi Sad, the city where he spent his childhood.
“His love for football was only surpassed by that for his family. He will be deeply missed by his two daughters and three grandchildren,” the family statement read.
