Napoli Triumphs Over Bologna to Secure Italian Super Cup

David Neres scored twice as Napoli secured a well-deserved victory over Bologna to win the Italian Super Cup in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The 28-year-old Brazilian winger opened the scoring for the Serie A champions with a stunning curling shot and extended their lead after halftime when Bologna was caught off guard while attempting to play from the back.

“We came here as champions of Italy; we wanted this trophy, and we demonstrated our determination with a great performance,” Napoli forward Matteo Politano told Mediaset.

“We could have added a few more goals, but we are pleased with the victory.”

This marks Napoli's third Super Cup title, with Neres contributing a total of three goals after also netting in Thursday's semi-final against the previous champions, AC Milan.

The tournament traditionally features the winners of Serie A and the Italian Cup, but in 2023, it was expanded to include the runners-up from both competitions.

The four-team tournament is set to take place in Saudi Arabia until 2029.
