Newcastle United Celebrates Eddie Howe's Birthday with Impressive Win Over Everton
Newcastle United head coach Eddie Howe celebrated his 48th birthday in style as his team secured a long-awaited away victory against Everton.
The visitors had struggled on the road in the Premier League, failing to win since April.
Newcastle set the tone early at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, scoring the fastest goal of the season just 55 seconds into the match.
Defender Malick Thiaw outjumped Michael Keane to head the ball past Jordan Pickford, marking his first goal for the club from a corner taken by Lewis Miley.
Although Everton attempted to regroup after falling behind so quickly, they were ultimately responsible for Newcastle's second goal. The Everton defense was unable to clear the ball from a chaotic situation in the box, and Pickford misjudged Miley's shot, allowing it to slip through.
David Moyes, visibly frustrated on the touchline, saw his team's situation worsen before halftime when Nick Woltemade added a third goal for Newcastle. After Tino Livramento played the ball down the line, Anthony Elanga set up the unmarked German, who calmly lobbed Pickford to score his seventh goal of the season.
Newcastle extended their lead to four goals before the hour mark, with Thiaw netting again from a well-placed cross by Lewis Hall.
Everton managed to pull one back courtesy of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, who skillfully controlled a ball from James Tarkowski before finding the net against goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale. However, this goal proved to be merely a consolation as Newcastle climbed above Everton in the league standings, moving up to 11th place.
