Scotland to Trial Alcohol Sales at Football Matches
Supporters may soon have the opportunity to purchase alcohol at Scotland football matches later this year, as part of an initiative aimed at lifting the long-standing alcohol ban in Scottish football.
The Scottish Football Association (SFA) has confirmed that a trial could take place during one of the national team's friendly matches scheduled for March or June, ahead of the World Cup.
Steve Clarke's team is set to host Japan on March 28 and Curacao on May 30.
During the trial, fans would be permitted to buy alcohol in the stadium concourse; however, the plans do not allow spectators to take drinks back to their seats.
Previous trials have already been conducted this season at league matches.
The general sale of alcohol within Scottish stadiums has been prohibited since 1981, following a riot that occurred after the Scottish Cup final between Celtic and Rangers.
