Stockport County Tops League One After Victory Over Port Vale
Stockport County ascended to the top of the League One table following their impressive 3-0 victory against Port Vale, marking their fourth consecutive win.
Nathan Lowe, Kyle Wootton, and Jack Diamond each scored within a span of 16 minutes in the first half, propelling County from fourth place to a two-point lead at the summit of the league.
In contrast, Port Vale remains in the relegation zone, now two points adrift of safety after this defeat.
The scoring began in the 13th minute when Lowe, on loan from Stoke, headed in a cross from Tyler Onyango, securing his second goal in as many matches.
Wootton extended Stockport's lead with a precise shot from the edge of the box ten minutes later, bringing his season total to six league goals.
Shortly before the half-hour mark, Diamond further increased the advantage by outmuscling Jesse Debrah in the penalty area and calmly finishing past goalkeeper Joe Gauci.
Port Vale had a rare opportunity just before halftime, with Ruari Paton's long-range free-kick hitting the crossbar.
Stockport nearly added a fourth goal in the second half when Lowe, who narrowly avoided a red card for an elbow on Marvin Johnson, struck the post.
