Sunderland Signs Dutch Goalkeeper Robin Roefs
Sunderland has secured the services of Dutch goalkeeper Robin Roefs from NEC Nijmegen for an undisclosed fee.
The 22-year-old has committed to a five-year contract at the Stadium of Light, marking the eighth acquisition for manager Regis Le Bris during this summer's transfer window.
Roefs had a standout season in the Eredivisie last year, featuring in 32 matches and achieving 10 clean sheets, contributing to Nijmegen's eighth-place finish.
With 10 appearances for the Netherlands Under-21 team, Roefs expressed his enthusiasm: "It feels really good to have signed for Sunderland. Joining such a big club with a rich history is a proud moment for me, and I'm excited for the challenge ahead in the Premier League."
He added, "Last season was my first real experience as a senior goalkeeper, and I was happy with how it went, especially with the stats at the end of the campaign."
"To be part of this journey at a club like Sunderland is really special, and I'm looking forward to the campaign ahead," he concluded.
Sunderland's return to the Premier League begins with a home game against West Ham on Saturday, August 16.
