Wolverhampton Wanderers have secured the signing of Colombian international Jhon Arias from Fluminense for an initial fee of £15 million. The agreement includes an additional £4 million in performance-related add-ons, contingent upon European qualification.
The 27-year-old winger has committed to a four-year contract with Wolves, with an option for an additional year. Arias will don the number 10 jersey, previously worn by Matheus Cunha, following Cunha's £62.5 million transfer to Manchester United last month.
While Arias is versatile and can play on both flanks, he is not considered a direct replacement for Cunha. This summer, Arias featured in the Club World Cup, helping Fluminense reach the semi-finals before being eliminated by Chelsea. He will reunite at Wolves with midfielder Andre, a former Fluminense teammate, and fellow Colombian international Yerson Mosquera.
Arias boasts 31 international caps for Colombia and was part of the Fluminense squad that clinched the Copa Libertadores in 2023. Over his tenure, he made 229 appearances for the Brazilian club. Arias is the second summer signing for Wolves under Vitor Pereira, following the acquisition of midfielder Fer Lopez from Celta Vigo.
