Wrexham to Sign Conor Coady from Leicester City
Wrexham is poised to acquire center-back Conor Coady from Championship rivals Leicester City.
The two clubs have agreed on a transfer fee, reportedly around £2 million, for the 32-year-old England defender, who successfully completed his medical examination on Friday morning.
Securing Coady would mark another significant move by Wrexham as they gear up for their first season in the second tier after a 43-year absence.
Wrexham has already shattered their club transfer record twice this summer, initially for Empoli left-back Liberato Cacace and subsequently for Nottingham Forest midfielder Lewis O'Brien.
The club is likely to break this record once more as they engage in discussions for a bold £7.5 million acquisition of Wales and Ipswich Town forward Nathan Broadhead.
Additionally, they aim to finalize the signing of another Wales international, striker Kieffer Moore, from Sheffield United.
Coady has made 198 Premier League appearances and captained the Wolverhampton Wanderers team that twice finished seventh and reached the quarter-finals of the Europa League.
He also boasts 10 caps for England and was part of their squads for Euro 2020 and the 2022 World Cup.
Coady has 12 months remaining on his contract with Leicester.
