AC Milan Tops Serie A After Victory Over Napoli
Christian Pulisic continued his impressive start to the season as 10-man AC Milan secured a victory over Napoli, claiming the top spot in Serie A.
The former Chelsea forward played a crucial role in the match, setting up Alexis Saelemaekers for an early goal just three minutes in, before doubling Milan's lead in the 31st minute.
Napoli found a glimmer of hope when Milan left-back Pervis Estupinan received a red card for a foul on Giovanni di Lorenzo, who was poised to score into an empty net. Initially shown a yellow card, Estupinan's punishment was escalated to a red following a review by the video assistant referee.
Kevin De Bruyne converted the resulting penalty, reducing the deficit for Napoli. However, despite having a numerical advantage, Antonio Conte's team was unable to equalize.
This victory allowed Massimiliano Allegri's side to leapfrog Napoli in the standings, with both teams now level on points but Milan ahead on goal difference. Meanwhile, AS Roma also matched the top two teams with 12 points from five matches, thanks to goals from strikers Artem Dovbyk and Matias Soule in their 2-0 win over Hellas Verona.
