Arsenal Engages in Contract Talks with Jurrien Timber
Arsenal Football Club has initiated discussions with defender Jurrien Timber regarding a new contract.
The Gunners aim to reward the Netherlands international for his outstanding performances, which have established him as a crucial member of Mikel Arteta's squad.
While the talks are still in the early stages, there is a mutual desire among all parties to reach an agreement that would extend Timber's tenure in north London beyond his current contract, which is set to expire in 2028.
The 24-year-old joined Arsenal from Ajax for a fee of £34.4 million in the summer of 2023; however, his inaugural season at the Emirates was marred by an anterior cruciate ligament injury sustained during the opening match against Nottingham Forest.
This injury limited him to just one additional appearance for the rest of the season, but he made a strong comeback, featuring in 51 matches during the 2024-25 campaign.
This season, Timber has continued to showcase his remarkable form, playing a pivotal role in Arsenal's encouraging start and solidifying his position as the first-choice right-back.
In addition to Timber's negotiations, the club is also in discussions with Bukayo Saka about a new long-term contract, with optimism that the England star will finalize an agreement soon.
Furthermore, key central defender William Saliba has already secured a new five-year deal.
