Aston Villa in Talks to Sign Lucas Paqueta from West Ham
Aston Villa has initiated discussions with West Ham regarding a loan deal for midfielder Lucas Paqueta, which includes an obligation to buy.
According to sources familiar with the situation, initial talks have focused on a total package valued at approximately £50 million, which would encompass the loan fee before finalizing the permanent transfer next summer.
Well-informed sources indicate that West Ham is keen on retaining Paqueta, leaving uncertainty about whether the London club will approve the transfer.
However, the 28-year-old midfielder is reportedly receptive to the idea of joining Villa ahead of Monday's transfer deadline.
Paqueta participated in training with his West Ham teammates as usual on Saturday, prior to their match against Nottingham Forest on Sunday.
While he was anticipated to travel for the game at the City Ground, his future at the London Stadium now appears to be in doubt.
Both Tottenham and Everton have also expressed interest in Paqueta.
