Brennan Johnson Joins Crystal Palace in Record Transfer
Brennan Johnson is set to join Crystal Palace 's squad for their match against Newcastle on Sunday following the completion of a club-record £35 million transfer from Tottenham .
Palace is expected to announce the signing of the Welsh forward within the next 24 hours, after Johnson finalized the details of his move across London on Friday.
The 24-year-old attracted interest from Bournemouth, who were looking for a replacement for Manchester City target Antoine Semenyo. However, after discussions with Palace manager Oliver Glasner on Thursday, Johnson was convinced to make the move to Selhurst Park.
His arrival will set a new club record for transfer fees, surpassing the £27 million paid to Liverpool for striker Christian Benteke in 2016.
Johnson joined Spurs in a £47.5 million deal from Nottingham Forest in 2023 and scored the decisive goal that ended the club's 17-year trophy drought with a Europa League victory last season.
Despite his past achievements, Johnson's playing time has been limited under Spurs manager Thomas Frank this season, with the Welsh international netting four goals in 22 appearances.
