Bristol City and Millwall Face Fines and Player Bans Following Mass Brawl
Bristol City and Millwall have been penalized, with players from both teams receiving suspensions, following a mass brawl that occurred at the conclusion of their Championship match last month.
The Football Association (FA) charged both clubs for failing to ensure that their players and technical staff behaved in a proper, non-provocative, and non-violent manner after the match.
Both clubs admitted to the charges, resulting in Bristol City being fined £40,000, while Millwall was ordered to pay a £30,000 fine, as determined by an independent Regulatory Commission hearing.
In addition, Bristol City midfielder Joe Williams received a three-match ban after admitting to acting in an improper manner and engaging in violent conduct. He will miss upcoming matches against Oxford United, Ipswich Town, and Sheffield Wednesday.
Millwall goalkeeper Joel Coleman denied the charge, but the commission found him guilty, resulting in a two-match suspension.
Furthermore, Lions first-team coach David Livermore admitted his charge and has been handed a four-match touchline ban along with a £1,400 fine.
Earlier this month, Bristol City players Ross McCrorie and Harry Cornick were also banned for three matches after admitting to charges of violent conduct.
Millwall secured a 1-0 victory at Ashton Gate on December 6, but tensions flared on the touchline at full-time when Bristol City was denied a potential equalizer due to an offside call.
