Celtic Manager Emphasizes Character in Upcoming Transfers
Celtic manager Wilfried Nancy has emphasized the importance of both character and quality in any new signings as the January transfer window approaches.
Following a challenging start to his tenure at Parkhead, Nancy is poised to strengthen his squad when the transfer window opens.
The former Columbus Crew head coach believes that recruiting players capable of handling the pressure associated with playing for Celtic will be crucial for the club's success.
"We possess a great deal of talent in terms of our playing style," Nancy stated ahead of Saturday's match against Livingston, currently at the bottom of the William Hill Premiership.
"It's vital that new signings have the right personality. This is a significant club, and playing here can be demanding. It is essential to have players who can thrive in this environment."
Nancy highlighted Scotland defender Kieran Tierney and captain Callum McGregor as exemplary figures of the kind of players he aims to build around.
"Everyone knows Kieran; I was aware of his abilities even before my arrival here. He is a key player for us. There are various types of personalities, and while Kieran may not be a vocal leader, he certainly demonstrates his worth on the pitch," he explained.
"Callum, on the other hand, is both a vocal leader and someone who leads by example. We have other players who fit this mold as well.
"When I refer to personalities, I mean more than just vocal presence; it's about having the right attitude during challenging times. This includes our ability to support one another during attacks, maintain our pressing game, and defend fiercely when necessary. For me, it all comes down to attitude. This is what I am seeking in potential signings."
