BBC Sport's football expert Chris Sutton has expressed concerns about the increasing difficulty of predicting Premier League outcomes, a sentiment he voiced after suffering another defeat to AI last week.
"Fair play to AI for performing so well, but it makes me wonder if it’s truly AI at work," Sutton remarked. "It seems like it’s either mimicking my predictions or someone is guiding it."
Sutton noted that the unpredictability of the league is escalating, stating, "Every team seems capable of beating another, with Arsenal being the only apparent exception. Last season, you could count on Liverpool to win most matches, but that’s no longer the case. Even I didn’t foresee Nottingham Forest winning 3-0 at Anfield last week."
However, Sutton's assertion may not hold entirely true, as nearly 45,000 predictions submitted by BBC readers included 38 individuals who correctly foresaw a 3-0 victory for Forest. Nonetheless, there were 20 other scorelines that received more votes, primarily favoring Liverpool.
As for this weekend's matches, Sutton is set to predict results for all 380 Premier League games this season, competing against AI, BBC Sport readers, and various guests.
In Week 13, he will face off against rapper Kofi Stone, an Aston Villa supporter whose new album, All The Flowers Have Bloomed , has recently been released.

Kofi Stone, who became a Villa fan after moving to Birmingham as a child, shared his story: "No one told me who to support; it just happened. I previously lived in Walthamstow and wasn’t into football, but after moving to Birmingham and receiving a club shirt from my uncle, it all made sense. I hardly ever took it off, and my mum recalls how I would wait by the washing machine just to wear it again immediately after it was washed."
Stone admitted, however, that he wasn't always loyal to the club. "My favorite Villa player was Darius Vassell, and when he transferred to Manchester City, I wore a City shirt for a while, which led to some teasing from my cousins back in London. I also remember the incredible shots from Thomas Hitzlsperger and the brilliance of Juan Pablo Angel and Gabriel Agbonlahor."
Regarding Chris Sutton's brief tenure with Villa in 2006, Stone quipped, "It was a short stint for him, wasn’t it? I know him more as a pundit than as a player for Villa. Sorry, Chris!"
