Other teams captured headlines for different reasons, notably non-league Weston-super-Mare, who advanced to the third round for the first time in their 138-year history.

Weston-super-Mare Advance to Third Round for the First Time
Weston-super-Mare, a National League South team, achieved a historic milestone by reaching the third round of the FA Cup for the first time ever. The Seagulls defeated fellow sixth-tier side Chelmsford City 2-0, with both goals coming in the second half from Louis Britton.
“I’m really ecstatic and proud, and I hope the lads feel the same,” said Weston-super-Mare manager Scott Rogers on BBC Radio Bristol. “They should be over the moon with this achievement; it’s a historic moment for the club. You don’t get a better feeling in football than winning a significant FA Cup match.”
Rogers added, “We knew Chelmsford would put us under pressure, but at half-time, we felt we had them exactly where we wanted them. You have to be brave in football, and we competed really well today.”
Swindon Town Thrashes Bolton Wanderers
League Two's Swindon Town outperformed Bolton Wanderers, securing a commanding 4-0 victory. Striker Aaron Drinan scored a hat-trick, and Joe Snowdon added another goal to seal the emphatic win for Ian Holloway's side.
Swindon currently sits second in League Two, just one point behind leaders Walsall, while Bolton is sixth in League One, having lost only three of their 17 matches this season.
“The scoreline flatters us if I’m being honest; they had a couple of chances they could have taken,” Holloway commented on BBC Radio Wiltshire. “But our team played exceptionally well today, and this might be one of the best performances I’ve seen in my 14-16 years of management.”
Despite holding the edge in possession, Bolton manager Steven Schumacher lamented his team's performance. “It was rubbish from start to finish. We gave them a one-nil head start from a questionable penalty decision. We responded well initially but lacked quality overall,” he stated.
Buxton's Cup Run Ends Against Cheltenham
National League North side Buxton FC's FA Cup journey came to an end after a 6-2 defeat to League Two's Cheltenham Town. Over 500 traveling fans witnessed their team take an early lead, but Cheltenham ultimately triumphed.
“They should know they competed against a League Two team,” Buxton manager John McGrath told BBC Radio Derby. “Cheltenham is a good side, and my players can take a lot of credit from this experience.”
Cheltenham manager Steve Cotterill acknowledged the challenge posed by Buxton. “It was a tricky game for us, and we had to navigate it carefully. We improved in the second half and executed our game plan better,” he remarked.
Luton and Stockport Knocked Out by Lower League Teams
League One teams Luton Town and Stockport County faced defeats against lower-tier opponents. Luton drew 2-2 with Fleetwood Town before losing in a penalty shootout. Manager Jack Wilshere expressed disappointment, stating, “It felt like a real opportunity to progress.”
Stockport, meanwhile, played a goalless match against Cambridge United before succumbing 5-4 on penalties. “It was nowhere near good enough,” said Stockport manager Dave Challinor. “We got what we deserved based on our performance, which lacked quality.”
