Fiorentina Parts Ways with Manager Stefano Pioli
Fiorentina has dismissed manager Stefano Pioli following the club's worst start to a season in its history.
The Tuscan team remains winless this season, sitting at the bottom of Serie A with only four points from their first ten matches.
Pioli returned to Fiorentina in July for his second tenure, but the team's poor performance under his guidance has sparked protests from fans.
In an official statement, the club announced, "ACF Fiorentina can confirm that Stefano Pioli has been relieved of his duties as head coach of the first team."
Fiorentina also stated that under-19 coach Daniele Galloppa will temporarily take over the first team.
Pioli's last match in charge ended in a 1-0 defeat to Lecce at home on Sunday, just a day after sporting director Daniele Prade left the club.
The Italian manager led Fiorentina for nearly two years before moving to AC Milan in 2019, where he won the Serie A title in 2022.
After departing Al-Nassr in June, he signed a three-year contract with Fiorentina, replacing Raffaele Palladino.
Galloppa's first match as interim head coach will be against Mainz in the Conference League on Thursday.
