Fiorentina Implements Security Measures Following Threats
Fiorentina has announced that it is taking security measures to safeguard players, staff, and their families after receiving "unacceptable and shameful" threats.
The threats emerged following the club's 3-1 defeat against Sassuolo on Saturday, which left Fiorentina at the bottom of Serie A without a win after 14 matches.
In a statement, the club condemned the threats and expressed its "full solidarity and support for the players and their families."
The statement further emphasized, "Behavior of this kind has no place in football or in any area of our society. The club has promptly contacted its players and the appropriate authorities to ensure that all necessary measures are implemented to protect the safety of the players, staff, and their loved ones."
ACF Fiorentina also expressed gratitude to the many supporters who have shown their affection and support during these regrettable events, reiterating that there is no tolerance for intimidation, hatred, or violence.
"Our commitment to protecting our players and their families remains steadfast," the club affirmed.
Following the team's eighth league loss of the season, the wife of Fiorentina defender Dodo shared death threats directed at her and her family on social media.
This winless start is a stark contrast to last season, in which the club finished sixth in the Italian top flight.
