Goncalo Ramos Secures Victory for PSG Against Barcelona in Champions League Clash
Goncalo Ramos scored a last-minute winner as Paris Saint-Germain triumphed over Barcelona in a thrilling encounter between two of the Champions League favorites.
Barcelona took the lead when Ferran Torres connected with a precise low cross from Marcus Rashford on the left flank.
Rashford has been in fine form, contributing to goals in five of Barcelona's last six matches.
However, the European champions PSG equalized when Nuno Mendes set up Senny Mayulu, who calmly slotted the ball into the net.
Despite missing key players due to injuries, PSG created the better opportunities and secured the win with Ramos' first-time finish from Achraf Hakimi's cross.
This victory places PSG at six points from two matches, while Barcelona remains at three points.
Analysis: PSG Could Be the Team to Beat Again
PSG were the deserving winners of last season's Champions League, clinching the title as part of a treble by defeating Inter Milan 5-0 in the final.
Barcelona, the reigning Spanish champions, had been one of the most exciting teams to watch until their semi-final exit at the hands of Inter.
All eyes were on the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys on Wednesday, which remains Barcelona's temporary venue while the Nou Camp undergoes renovations.
Remarkably, PSG secured all three points despite being without their first-choice attacking trio of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Ousmane Dembélé, and Désiré Doué, as well as captain Marquinhos, who was sidelined along with midfielder Joao Neves, who was injured during warm-up.
Barcelona started strongly, with Rashford and Lamine Yamal impressing on the wings and securing the opening goal.
However, the visiting side, managed by former Barcelona coach Luis Enrique, demonstrated their quality with their dynamic full-backs contributing to both goals.
Mayulu, at just 19 years old, scored his second Champions League goal, having previously netted in the final in Munich.
PSG had several late opportunities to extend their lead, including a shot from Lee Kang-in that hit the post, before substitute Ramos clinched the victory.
