Jonathan David Shines on Debut as Juventus Triumphs Over Parma
Jonathan David made an impressive debut for Juventus, scoring in their Serie A opener against Parma.
The Canadian striker, who joined the team from Lille in July, netted his goal by converting a cross from Kenan Yildiz just under an hour into the match.
Juventus faced a setback in the 83rd minute when full-back Andrea Cambiaso received a straight red card for an arm strike on Parma's Mathias Lovik.
However, just a minute later, substitute Dusan Vlahovic secured the victory with a second goal, initiating and finishing a rapid counter-attack, with Yildiz assisting once again.
Yildiz nearly added to his tally but saw his shot from the edge of the box saved by Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki, who made a low dive to push it wide.
Throughout the match, Juventus struggled to penetrate a strong Parma defense, with Francisco Conceicao's header being tipped over the bar by Suzuki, and another deflected strike hitting the post.
In other Serie A action, Como secured a win over Lazio with two goals in the second half.
Greek striker Anastasios Douvikas opened the scoring by finishing a through-ball from Nico Paz.
Paz then added a stunning 30-yard free-kick to ensure the three points, marking a successful start to the league campaign for Cesc Fabregas' side.
