Kieffer Moore Aims for Wrexham's First Home Win Ahead of International Duty
Striker Kieffer Moore is focused on securing Wrexham's first home win in the Championship before shifting his attention to international duties with Wales.
The North Wales club will host Birmingham City on Friday evening, aiming to break a streak of four winless league games at the Stok Cae Ras this season.
Moore has been selected for Craig Bellamy's squad for the friendly match against England at Wembley on October 9, followed by a crucial World Cup qualifier against Belgium at home on October 13.
"All eyes are on Birmingham, and after that, I will focus on those two games," Moore stated.
"International breaks can feel long, especially for players who do not participate in international matches. Ending on a winning note would uplift everyone's spirits."
Friday's match against Birmingham has been dubbed the 'Hollywood derby,' as Wrexham is co-owned by actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, while NFL legend Tom Brady is part of the ownership group for the Blues.
However, Moore emphasized on Thursday that despite the game's high profile, Wrexham will approach it like any other match. "Tomorrow is just another game that we have prepared well for and one that we aim to win," he added.
"We've been close a few times, and I believe tomorrow could be a sweet night for us. I'm genuinely looking forward to it. It's a highly anticipated match, and I want to embrace that. We will aim to impose ourselves early and hopefully secure the three points."
While still in search of their first home league victory this season, Wrexham has only lost one of their last six Championship matches.
Moore's fellow Wales international, Nathan Broadhead, helped secure a point for Wrexham in a 1-1 draw against Leicester City on Tuesday, a team that was in the Premier League last season.
"Leicester is a strong team," Moore remarked. "For a squad that has just been relegated, we managed to go there and assert ourselves. We could have left with three points, which is a testament to our efforts and what we are aiming to achieve here."
The result at the King Power Stadium marked Wrexham's second consecutive Championship draw, following a 3-2 victory at Norwich.
"We are beginning to see momentum not just in our results but also in our style of play and ball movement," Moore continued. "We've made significant progress, and I hope we can maintain this momentum. From my perspective, it's all about building momentum. You need a series of results and a dedicated team working hard together."
For the time being, Moore's full attention is on Wrexham, but soon he will turn his focus to two important matches for Wales—a friendly against Thomas Tuchel's side and a vital World Cup qualifier in Cardiff.
Moore scored his 15th goal for Wales during his 50th appearance in September's 1-0 qualifying victory in Kazakhstan. "There is no greater honor than representing your country. It is everything you aspire to achieve," Moore expressed. "International football is extraordinary, and being part of it is an incredible experience."
