Kieran Tierney experienced an "emotional" return to Celtic Park during Saturday's friendly against Newcastle United, where the defender received the loudest applause in a 4-0 victory.
The 28-year-old Scottish international was brought on 10 minutes into the second half, marking his first home appearance for the Scottish champions since April 6, 2019.
Reflecting on his return to his first club after six years with Arsenal, Tierney told Celtic TV, "Amazing. I didn't know what to expect, but that was just brilliant. What a feeling."
"I was quite emotional, actually, running onto the park like that. It was a great day for me," he added.
During his initial tenure, Tierney won four league titles, two Scottish Cups, and two League Cups. In the match, he assisted the fourth goal by crossing to Liam Scales, who scored after a one-two with Reo Hatate.
"They're a great team, so it just shows the quality that we have," Tierney remarked. "When we play like that, we can challenge anyone. Some of the goals we scored were brilliant."
Manager Brendan Rodgers introduced Tierney just before making another 10 substitutions.
"I wanted him to receive a special welcome back," Rodgers explained. "To have him here at his age, when he could easily be playing at the top level of the Premier League, is incredible for us."
"It was a great moment and another connection with him and the fans," he added.
"And then you see him on the field, playing against Anthony Elanga, who's a fantastic signing for Newcastle," Rodgers continued. "But Kieran has pace and power. You saw how he created the goal with that explosive speed and quality."
