Madrid to Host 2027 Men's Champions League Final
Madrid will host the 2027 Men's Champions League final, while Warsaw will stage the Women's final.
The Estadio Metropolitano, home to Atletico Madrid and with a capacity of 70,000, has been selected for the men's prestigious event following the withdrawal of Milan's San Siro.
UEFA opted to reopen the bidding process for the final due to concerns regarding the refurbishment plans at San Siro, leading to the decision to move the match to the Spanish capital.
The Estadio Metropolitano previously hosted the Champions League final in 2019, where Liverpool triumphed over Tottenham.
The Women's final will take place at the Stadion Narodowy in Warsaw, Poland.
Additionally, UEFA announced that the 2026 Super Cup match will be held in Salzburg, Austria.
These decisions were made during a meeting of UEFA's executive committee in Tirana, Albania. The committee also addressed requests from the football associations of Spain and Italy to play domestic league matches abroad but did not reach a conclusion on this matter.
"The committee recognized this as an important and growing issue but expressed the need to gather input from all stakeholders before making a final decision," UEFA stated. "There are numerous factors to consider, and as the governing body of European football, UEFA has a responsibility to take all such elements into account. Thus, no decision was made today, but UEFA will conduct a round of consultations with all stakeholders in European football, including fans."
